Opera mini rules the mobile web for me right now. How long?
I think next two years.
Two sites that i visit a lot changed to flash. I hope not many more do but they may. Thats not a big issue though, there are still millions of sites like this that wont use flash. There is however something called the eee pc from asus. I hear they will run linux from ROM and somehow that makes it load quicker and with the size of the eeePC I don't mind carryin it around. Why is eeePC a problem for opera mini? Well smartphones should start getting cheaper soon people will demand more from their mobile devices which have a size limit. It will be effective to use and eeePC for browsing and it is mobile enough to carry to most places. Skype like telephony grows (imagine high definition video calling, not that I have even seen HighDefinition, but my imagination is nice). Smartphones get faster and smarter people demand flash support on their browsers. Cloud computing is convinient enough to grow quickly. Why use Opera Mini if my Mobile Internet Device (MID) can give me the full web? Hell the smartphone I will have will give me the full web. Okay I am sittin at the doctors office and I wanna do something on the web. Well cloud computing, smarter affordable phones i will probably have Fireofox in a Ubuntu KDE enviroment on my phone(It will be easier to sync with my PC because someone will take my advice and make a list of sotware that Runs Ubuntu well and Manufactures will be forced to make their software work with Ubuntu).
Well opera aint stupid, they sell opera mobile, it should be better than mini in features so they kinda do the same thing they are doin with operamini (that include making it free). If the price of a smartphone gets to be below R2000 then I'm o have one and I think anyone who sees the need for OperaMini will too, HELL I'm o have one anyway (Freerunner!running Android? YES! Android gets released, developers find that its not closed down like iphone, they make better browsers mobile internet devices drop prices of smart phones...
Why use OperaMini on a smart phone that has opera mobile that can run better than OperaMini? same reason i use it now, my phone os not good enough. OperaMini will be made for the future equivelant of the Dumbphone, it will be good enough and free.
AI!!! OperaMini will rule indefinately. I don't know how people make these predictions. There are just too many things to consider.
