I know you are like this awesome search giant who has like 60% of the world's search market and have this great thing of allowing your engineers to choose which projects they want to work and this has resulted in great things like Google reader, Gmail and I think a search alogrithm thats better than Yahoos which is has its own problems (poor thing).
I have only recently noticed that you see the potential of openSource and I guess you may be trying to make money of it now. This is using linux on your servers and, well, what this letter is really about: Adroid. I am in South Africa in case you don't know and I use my Phone a lot to browse the internet as it has, I think Advantage over the computer in terms of speed and readability of my favorite sites. I can't afford an expensive phone though and 'smart phones' fall in that category. I was thus excited to hear about Android as, from what i heard, it was from a comapny I would like to work for which has brought me great web application and basically introduced me to the web. Android was open source and thus comapnies would save money on lisencing costs and that would hopefully make phones cheaper and I could thus afford a nice 'smart phone'.
The problem is that I have recently been reading that you guys a playing favorite with developers and that is pushing them away from Android to iPhone. This is not good news for me because I want the iPhone but I don't want Apple telling what i can and cannot do with my own phone. I was hoping to some day (when i can actually hack) get the Android and tweak it a bit for my personal use.
Okay basically what i am trying to say or ask is that please Google, Please don't mess Android up. Google groups comes to mind. USELESS for me. Then there is the great thing called Google page creator. It gives me the feeling that I can actually maintain a website and now you have discontinued it to make it into a wiki site? I mean what the hell!!! I don't want a wiki. I just hope it improves and it does not become a wiki site. I will just move to Synthasite even with its un-intuitive name.
I hope my grievences don't fall on hot rock
